The people were going crazy when they first heard President Obama proposal to raise the minimum wage hourly pay from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour. These people think that they are going to get more money in their pockets with a higher hourly wage. These people are clueless. They do not know the consequences that come with raising the minimum wage. Many people that work a minimum wage paying job are teenagers and young men and women, but higher minimum wages would make it harder for these teenagers to find jobs because the employers would hire more skilled workers. Also, almost all minimum-wage jobs are entry-level jobs that provide unskilled workers the experience they need to become more successful in the future with their career. Another reason that raising the minimum wage is a bad idea is that it hurts small business owners. Small businesses are going to have to hire less people and create fewer jobs if the minimum wage is increased, because more the more money spent on wage s means less money spent on materials and other expenses. Finally, the Earned Income Tax Credit already works to lift Americans out of poverty, so raising the minimum wage would be useless. The strategies are that of investor and consumer education for making appropriate and informed choice at the time of dealing which financial services and products and money, communication of the ASIC's actions for informing the entities that are regulated with respect to the standards that are expected and the consequence they will have to face in the case such standards are not met and providing the regulated entities with guidance on how they can comply with the obligations.[3] In the situation of a regulated entity's non-compliance, enforcement action can be taken by ASIC for dealing with and deterring misconduct of any type. A investigation may be involved and commencing of proceedings that are civil in nature including seeking orders that are of civil penalty, conducting of investigation and taking a action that is criminal in nature (such as imprisonment), accepting an outcome that is negotiated including an enforceable undertaking also known as EU or taking actions that are administrative in nature such as imposing conditions on license, banning order. The AISC has Senior Executive Leaders who have the responsibility for most of the activities that the ASIC undertakes including that of accepting of an EU except where the matters are major then there would be an approval that would be required to be taken off the ASIC's Enforcement Committee of the Commission.[5] The Griffith and Cooney Committees recommended that there should be statutory powers which need to be given to the ACCC for accepting undertaking which can be enforceable legally.[6] Thus in accordance with the recommendations of this committee, there was introduction of provisions in the system for formalizing and legitimizing the agreements that were entered between the alleged offender and the ACCC.[7] A promise that is enforceable in court is an enforceable undertaking.[8] The form of a settlement is undertaken by it in which the offender (allegedly) who can be termed as the promisor and the regulator, for the purpose of this essay the ASIC, begin their negotiation on the breach that has been alleged. It can be alternatively stated that an enforceable undertaking is an alternative dispute resolution's form.[9] An increasing number of Australian regulators have been made available to this court enforceable undertaking. Post the enactment of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth.) of the section 87B the first regulator became the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for being able to use such sanctions.[10] The Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (Cth) enacted a provision that was similar which is section 87B. The ASIC was given the power under section 93A and 93 AA of this act to accept enforceable undertakings. It may accordingly be argued that an enforceable undertaking enables the parties to reach a resolution that is appropriate and more flexible as compared to the order of the court since Section 93 A(1) and 93 AA(1) of the said Act gives the ASIC powers that are wider for accepting enforceable undertaking that is enforceable by courts than that which the court gave when it gives orders or allows directly undertaking.[11] This latitude has some judici al support. In the case of Medibank Private Ltd v Cassidy,[12] It was held by the court that compensation cannot be order by it for the parties that are not a part of the proceedings. However, there are various EUs that the ASIC often accepts for providing compensation or refunds since the corrective action is one of the aims of the EUs. Since an EU does not confine to what is ordered ordinarily by the court, the legislative gaps may also be remedied by such sanctions. It is essential to keep in mind that alleged offense that amounts to enforceable undertakings can cover areas of law that are very wide. In the case of ASIC v. Edwards[13] The court opined that the wide interpretation of the words in connection with' that is there in the ASIC Act in Section 93 AA. This amounts to the fact that there may be acceptance by ASIC of undertakings on any kind of breach of law till the time the beach is in connection with the powers of ASIC. The statement in connection' was given a furthermore operational wider scope in the case of Berry v. Federal Commissioner of Taxation by Kitto J. as a requirement of a relationship that is substantial in a business sense that is practical.[14] There is no immediate causal relationship which is required by this test. A report was released by the Senate Economics Reference Committee in the year 2014, June on the ASICs performance inquiry.[15] The Committee in this report recognized the good work which had been done by ASIC in an environment which was challenging. However, it also raised various concerns on ASIC's performance including the manner in which the EUs are being used by it. There were 61 recommendations that were contained in this report by the Committee which aimed at the enabling of the ASIC to ensure that its responsibilities are fulfilled in a more effective manner.[16] It also raised concerns about the enforcement of the decisions of ASIC and in particular the use of the EUs. The issues in summary, raised in its submissions and which the Committed highlighted, included the terms strength which have been included in these EUs;; the EUs use as remedy for misconduct by entities that are larger; the clarity in manner in which the alleged misconduct are described in these issues; and the transparency when it comes to regulating the EUs compliance. A recommendation was included in the report that a performance of Audit by the Auditor-General of the use of EUs by ASIC should be undertaken.[17] There is a valuable role which is played by EUs as ASIC's one of the regulatory responses suite and the overall enforcement approach that ASIC takes. They are necessary particularly for addressing those misconduct which area less severe in nature and where there is co-operation from the promisor. There has in general been an efficient administration of the EUs by the ASIC which has been accepted and negotiated. For each significant step there has been an EU process that is sound: acceptance of EU as the most apt tool for regulation; terms inclusion in the undertaking that in the most suitable manner take care of the misconduct; and ensuring and monitoring that the conditions are followed through and addressing any type of non-compliance which is identified. There, however, is a considerable amount of scope still for improvement of EUs and ensuring that the decisions of EU and processes that support it and monitoring of compliance. The ASIC, also, does not report or measure the EUs ef fectiveness in achieving the outcomes of the regulatory process that had been intended, including the increase in the level of compliance that is voluntary. The stakeholders, including the Parliament, would be informed better of the regulations of ASICs effectiveness if there were reporting and measurement of the performance which has improved. There has been consistently acceptance of EUs by ASIC on these entering into EUs by ASIC it needs to verify that there is transparency and that it is by the procedures and policies. In fact â€Å"It's stylistic scope is too broad to be encompassed by any single definition† (Groliers Encyclopaedia). The nearest definition suggests a kind of music that represents and speaks for the teenage society. This music is characterised by using a heavy beat. In this musicology, I intend to describe the technical aspects that make Rock Music what it is. I'm also going to divide Rock music into four sections: Rock of the 50's, of the 60's, of the 70's and of the 80's. Within these sections I'm going to discuss several sub-topics such as famous composers and groups, and characteristics of the music. Rock music shares many technical aspects. Most rock music is based on the same harmonies as Western music, especially the tonic, subdominant, and dominant chords. The series of chords known as the 12-bar blues is based on these three chords and has figured prominently in certain styles, especially Rock & Roll, Soul Music, and Southern Rock. Other common harmonic devices include the use of a drone, and the parallel movement of chords, originating from a technique on the electric guitar known as bar-chording. Many elements of African American music have been a continuing source of influence on rock music. These characteristics include riffs, emphasising the second and fourth beats of each measure, and dense buzzy-sounding tone colours. The 1950’s marked the birth of Rock n’ roll. Unfortunately, in our region, job satisfaction has not still received the proper attention from neither scholars nor managers of various business organizations. Key words: job satisfaction, Employees, performance Introduction: Research indicates that employees who are satisfied with their jobs are more likely to stay with their employers. According to this survey, 86% of employees indicated overall satisfaction with their current position, with 41% of employees reporting they were very satisfied. What’s more, majority of employees reported that the current economic climate has not made any difference in their level of satisfaction—and this is good news for employers, especially during the economically challenging time. It is not surprising that during the current economic downturn, which some have compared to the 1929 Great Depression, employees selected job security for the second consecutive year as the most important aspect of their job satisfaction. Benefits, compensation/pay, opportunities to use skills and abilities and feeling safe in the work environment rounded off employees’ top five very important job satisfaction contributors—nearly identical to the top five of 2008. The essential component to any tragedy, Greek or Shakespearean, is a protagonist with a fatal flaw. In Greek tragedy this is called hamartia. This Latin term translates directly into the word â€Å"flaw† but is usually used to describe an excess of a personality trait – virtue or vice. The protagonist’s fatal flaw pushes the the plot and action of the tragedy forward. It is this tragic flaw, which leads to the eventual downfall of the character, his circumstances, and the denouement of the drama. In examining the bulk of the literature’s protagonists, no other character embodies the essential role of the flawed protagonist like Hamlet. Hamlet’s fatal flaw is his idealism. Only once Hamlet overcomes his idealism is he able to seek his revenge. The climax of the play occurs with Hamlet’s realization that the world is not as it seems and that he must shrug off his idealistic values and avenge his father’s murder Act 3, scene 4. In Shakespeare’s Hamlet, act 3 scene 4, is a pivotal scene within the play. The scene begins in the Queen’s chamber, as Hamlet slams the door open, with sword in hand. They engage in a dialogue of riddles combined with Hamlet’s mishandling of the weapon makes the Queen uneasy. Hamlet is upset at the Queen for marrying his father’s brother. The Queen screams â€Å"Thou wilt not murder me? Help, ho! † and as Polonius responds, Hamlet promptly shoves his sword into the curtain where Polonius hides and swiftly kills him. Hamlet wonders if it was the King, half hoping that it was Claudius, who Hamlet has been trying to kill the whole play. He fantasies about killing him, in the previous scene, he states â€Å"In th’ incestuous pleasure of his bed. † Hamlet is consumed by the idea of Claudius and Gertrude making love. Once he knows that he only killed Polonius he continues to scold him mother. She responds â€Å"†In th’ incestuous pleasure of his bed† and Hamlet replies † A bloody deed. Almost as bad, good mother, As kill a king and marry with his brother. † Again Hamlet contrasts the two brothers that Gertrude has become involved with. Hamlet must avenge his father’s death. In doing so he must not only kill Claudius but also resurrect his father. He does this by outlining how his father’s good qualities compare to his uncle’s bad qualities. Hamlet laments: Look here upon this picture, and on this, The counterfeit presentment of two brothers. See what a grace was seated on this brow, Hyperion’s curls, the front of Jove himself,. . . This was your husband. Look you now what follows. Here is your husband, like a mildew’d ear Blasting his wholesome brother. Hamlet contrasts the two brothers which he claims are completely the opposite. Hamlet believes that Gertrude might has mistaken one for the other. Hamlet continues to verbally assault his mother. Much of what he says is a rephrasing of Hamlet’s first solioquy, â€Å"frailty thy name is woman† as well as Hamlet aggressive behavior toward Ophelia in the nun scene. Act 3, scene 4 is the part of the play when the climax happens. Hamlet must first confront the cause of this murder, Queen Gertrude. It is within in this scene that Hamlet gets his first taste of vengenance and murder when he easily kills Polonius. After this murder, Hamlet decides he can and must kill his father’s murderer, Claudius. However, Hamlet’s leaves his mother alone because his father’s ghost appears and advises Hamlet to â€Å"Leave her to heaven†. Hamlet respects and loves his father in life and also in death and adheres to the ghost’s advice. Hamlet’s goal is to bring back his father’s reign not just by pointing out Claudius’ faults but also by humiliating his mother and her new world to trash. Hamlet continues: Have you eyes? Could you on this fair mountain leave to feed And batten on this moor? Ha, have you eyes? Hamlet is trying to convince his mother give up her new life with Claudius, to find her loyalty to her dead husband, and back to the way things used to be. Hamlet takes the role of â€Å"scourge and minister,† and tells her she can redeem herself from being a whore to being the good wife she used to be. Hamlet advises her to leave Claudius, â€Å"the moor† and climbs up on her dead husband’s â€Å"mountain†. Hamlet explains â€Å" throw away the worser part† of your cleft heart, Hamlet instructs her, â€Å"And live the purer with the other half. † However, Hamlet, as much as he wants to love his mother, can not get past his belief that she is responsible for his father’s death. It is important to note that this scene takes place in the Queen’s bedroom. The conversation symbolized Hamlet and Gertrude essentially â€Å"in bed† together and hints to a sexual relationship. Hamlet speaks like a jealous lover chastising his girlfriend for sleeping with a different man and making their bed â€Å"enseamed†. The Queen is extremely upset and actually asks Hamlet to help her figure out what to do. At this point when Hamlet should have told her to confess, he urges her to stop her relationship with Claudius, â€Å"Not this, by no means, that I bid you do: Let the bloat king tempt you again to bed† (Act III, sc iv). It is in the moment that Hamlet allows his emotion to dominate over his intellect that Claudius was killed. He is consumed by the thoughts of his father’s demise and is haunted by the knowledge that his father’s soul will not be able to rest until his death is avenged. Hamlet willfully concludes, â€Å"My thoughts be bloody or be nothing worth† (Act IV sc iv). It is then that Hamlet finally had the ability to suppress his idealistic nature, and do what is right. The murder is not a well planned scheme and occurs in the heat of the moment. Hamlet, after the murder of Claudius never once wavers in his decision. He has done what is right and believes that â€Å"There is a special providence in the fall of a sparrow† (Act V sc ii). Hamlet is able to do anything but take vengeance upon the man who did away with his father and has taken his father’s place with his mother. The pain which should have caused him to take immediate revenge was replaced by pity for himself. It is Hamlet’s idealistic nature that creates the ultimate theme and driving force behind all the rising action, falling action, and resolution of this tragedy as well as the death of his mother. The way in which Hamlet views his mother, father, and Claudius is finally revealed in Act 3, scene 4. Once Hamlet is able to be honest about his feelings, he is able to finally seek revenge for his father’s murder. This scene is pivotal to denouement of the play and essential to Hamlet’s transformation from a boy to man who embodies the important qualities which were cherished and expect by an Elizabethan audiences.
